Reflections from Lifebridge Church Women’s Tea
I recently had the privilege to speak at a beautiful women’s tea at Lifebridge Church. I wanted to share part of what I shared from that day with you...
The Lifebridge Women’s Tea was a tapestry of creativity and warmth. Twenty hostesses each brought their unique flair to the tables, transforming the space into a haven of hospitality. It was a visual reminder of how diverse expressions of care can come together to create something truly special.
Having my best friend and “southern sister,” Molly, there was a blessing. She's been my steadfast supporter, always encouraging me to embrace opportunities that stretch me. Public speaking doesn't come naturally to me—I'm a writer at heart—but sharing in person about the themes of hospitality and kindness felt deeply rewarding.
A highlight of the day was an unexpected surprise: my husband, Scott, attended without my knowledge. Seeing him in the audience after my talk made my heart leap. Even after nearly 45 years together, his support continues to inspire me.
During my talk, I emphasized that hospitality doesn't require grand gestures. Sometimes, it's as simple as inviting a neighbor over for a cup of tea or offering a listening ear. These small acts can have a profound impact, fostering connections and spreading kindness.
As we navigate our daily lives, let's remember that opening our hearts and homes, even in small ways, can lead to meaningful connections and a more compassionate world.
A thought I want to leave with you that I recently learned from Colin Boyd (no relation, but love his last name!) that resonates deeply with me and I listen to before every speaking opportunity I have: each of us has a unique voice and perspective. Embracing opportunities to share our stories isn't just beneficial for others—it enriches our own lives as well.
What is something only YOU can share with others? ✨
