From Dream to Display: Simple Hospitality at The Cloister at Sea Island

Some stories in life unfold so beautifully that you know they were meant to be. That’s exactly how Simple Hospitality found its way onto the shelves of the stunning Sea Island Shop at The Cloister.

The Cloister at Sea Island holds a special place in my family’s heart. It was there, in August 2023, that my book found its very first retail home. But the story starts even earlier in Spring 2023—with a dear friend, Leslie. She was one of the first people I told about my dream of writing Simple Hospitality, and her support has meant the world to me. When the book finally became a reality, Leslie played a beautiful role in its debut.

Our family gathered at The Cloister for a family trip and a special surprise—a moment I will never forget. A close family friend had driven up from Winter Park, FL to Sea Island, GA and carried with them the first printed sample copies of Simple Hospitality. No one in my family had seen the book yet. I hadn’t even seen it!! 

Our family was gathered in a room together, as Leslie walked in. She handed my book out as part of “a special amenity for returning guests,” and a wave of realization quickly spread across the room—this was my book. We got to hold those first copies together, experiencing that milestone as a family was really one of my favorite memories of this journey. 

I love that we even have that time forever recorded on video. 

From that heartfelt moment, something incredible happened. The Cloister placed the very first retail order for Simple Hospitality! A five-star resort, known for its elegance and hospitality, became the first place to share my book with the world. And the most amazing part? They’ve reordered two times since!

This journey has been a testament to the very message of Simple Hospitality—that kindness, connection, and welcoming others into our lives create the most beautiful moments. And I am so grateful for every step of this one.
